Herculite Project Spotlight

Project:: The November 2011 Project Spotlight was submitted by Ohio Awning & Manufacturing Co. in Cleveland, OH. It features an outdoor Patio canopy at a prestigious golf club in Rochester, NY using Herculite Natura Fabric.

The client was looking for a stylish outdoor entertainment space with extended weather protection. Herculite Natura was chosen because the fabric offered all commercial requirements of strength, flame resistance and rain protection while maintaining the woven fabric design element.

This awning canopy allows the club membership the ability to enjoy a waterproof outdoor seating environment for dining, weddings and other revenue positive events with increased beauty and comfort.

Project:: This month's Project Spotlight was submitted by Miami Awning Company of Miami FL and features a custom design canopy using Coastline Plus fabric installed as a special Carport at the entrance of a manufacturing location Southwest Miami-Dade County, Florida.

This project was a unique project because of the requirement of the client. They requested a clear span of the entire parking space because the four principals were planning on parking their four very expensive automobiles under the structure and they did not want to take a chance of scrapping a Maserati , Lamborghini, or a Ferrari with the center support.

They also requested a structure that can handle 110 mph winds. In the event we are visited by a Cat I or a Cat II Hurricane, they will not need to remove the fabric top. This Miami Awning structure is designed and engineered to stay in place well beyond the requested sustained wind loads of a Cat II Hurricane however it was suggested that fabric be removed before a landfall to protect the fabric from the flying debris. The entire structure is made of welded schedule 40 galvanized steel pipes.

The two front Support columns are 6' round and are 51'-0' apart. The entire project is heat sealed at all the main seams. The fabric is the tried and true Herculite Coastline Plus CP-2719 Driftwood gray. This durable fabric has been a main stay for Miami Awning for over three decades.

Project:: This month's Project Spotlight was submitted by Glendale Awning Company of Middle Village, NY and features a custom design canopy using Herculite Natura Coastal Blue fabric installed at an entrance of a nursing home located in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

This project was definitely a project of the month for Glendale Awning Company. The customer wanted a fabric that will handle snow load and wind load because they are located along the scenic Hudson River. Every detail of this canopy is unique, from Herculite Natura 18oz fabric to custom design heavy-duty poles as you can see in the picture. Also we used Natura Coastal Blue to cover the bottom of the canopy, preventing any wind from going inside. The fabric was wedge welded, which will prevent any water leakage. After showing samples of woven acrylic awning fabric and Herculite Natura, the customer felt more confident in the strength of Natura. We used two 50-yard rolls of Herculite Natura Coastal Blue.

Project:: This Project Spotlight was submitted by Boree Canvas Unlimited and features a complex shaped restaurant canopy using Herculite Vanguard 2945 installed on Urban Flats, a trendy hot spot in Jacksonville, Florida.

This project was definitely unique since the building was built at a radius thus making the canopy have two different radiuses. The cover presented some pretty unique challenges; having to pattern the entire frame at each section & marking every rafter layout. Boree sealed in 14 double lacers to secure the cover to the frame & to reduce lifting of the cover. Sewing the front valance on around the spiral radius & making sure the seam was lined up to the front bar made for an outstanding fit. They used 73 yards of Vanguard 2945 Black.

Project:: This Project Spotlight was submitted by Sunmasters of Naples and features a series of Herculite Vanguard 2909 structures installed on Tavira, a high-rise (and high end) Condominium on the Gulf of Mexico.

The client was looking to make a 'statement' entry to a high-end residential facility, with the pool deck amenities being an additional 'draw' to attract moneyed residents. Vanguard is both colorful and functional where protection from the sun is mandatory for leisure enjoyment. The fully-covered pool deck, free-standing bar enclosure serves as a mini club where residents can gather and appreciate the Gulf view, sunsets and spa-like water facilities.

Project:: St. Anthony's Medical Center - This Project was submitted by Lawrence Fabric & Metal Structures, Inc. and features the entrance canopy for St. Anthony's Medical Center. Natura Awning Fabric was selected because of its waterproof functionality and natural fabric design appeal.

The client wanted to have a weather resistant covering to expand their entrance space, increase their visibility while also offering a stylish welcome to their visitors.

Project:: Arby's Restaurant - There are over 1500 Arby's locations throughout the US. The Corporate awning specification is Canopy FS Classic Red 132 by Herculite. This fabric was chosen because of its color match brilliance, excellent illumination and the PVDF coating which promotes an extended warranty.

Project:: HCR Manor Care - This month's project by Glawe Awning features Natura Awning Fabric and was selected because of its waterproof functionality and natural fabric design appeal. This client wanted a waterproof entrance canopy without the typical shinny vinyl appearance.

Project:: An unusual application. These colorful umbrellas line Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio.
It has been reported that these umbrellas are the second most photographed behind the Alamo.
