Spring and summer are just around the corner and it’s time to plan your next outdoor event, gathering, or party. Here are some things to consider before you rent or purchase a party tent:

• What’s the size of your party? Depending on the number of guests you expect, this will affect the cost and the size of the area you will need for your tent.
• What kind of tent do you want? There are two main types: Pole Tents and Frame Tents.

o   Pole Tents use center poles and outer poles to keep the tent upright. A pole tent is secured to the ground with stakes, ratchets, and ropes.

o   Frame Tents use interlocking pieces or bars which are joined to create the tent. The frame is basically a freestanding metal structure. These tents don’t’ necessarily need stakes or ropes to secure them to the ground but rather sometimes use weights.

• What kind of material will you need for your tent? Tents come in different types of materials. You can get polyester composites, blackout materials, and canvas to name a few.

o   If you’re in a sunny, hot area then perhaps using a blackout material will help keep your guests protected from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

o   If you’re in a humid area, then using a mildew resistant polyester composite fabric might be worthwhile.

Remember, you will also want to consider how many tables or chairs you want inside your tent rental and if you’re going to need a dance floor or other equipment. For example, do you want to hang any decorations or lighting inside the tent? Will you need head tables for parties like wedding receptions, etc…? All of these factors/interior needs will affect the square footage of your tent so make sure you know exactly what you want before you buy or rent a party tent.
